Is the opposition APC merely hibernating, or it is showing signs of fatigue syndrome?

In a vibrant democracy where the voices of the people truly matter, the ruling government should never enjoy a moment of complacency!
Seemingly a spirited opposition must keep the government on its toes, always ready to challenge any missteps and hold leaders accountable for their actions.
However, the situation in Sierra Leone tells a different story. The main opposition party, the APC, seems to be lacking the fire needed to effectively challenge the despotic SLPP government of President Bio. This has led to perceptions of weakness and a troubling compromise of democratic principles.
In a robust people’s democracy, each presidential address would ignite an immediate response from an energized opposition, bursting onto the scene with press conferences and bold statements.
The current state of affairs in Sierra Leone reveals a two-sided narrative. The government presents its version which is riddled with inaccuracies and far removed from people’s reality.
Equally, it is the responsibility of the opposition to unveil the truth, highlighting the genuine struggles faced by citizens.
By and large, the opposition ought to seize the opportunity to spotlight the government’s broken promises and outline practical solutions that could restore hope for the people, proving they are ready to steer the nation in a better direction.
It is worth noting that over the years the SLPP government under President Bio has faced severe criticism, with many calling it the worst in Sierra Leone’s history.
But is it fair to claim that the current APC opposition might also be falling short, given its apparent failure to hold the president and his government accountable?
This includes the recent unjust firing of the Auditor General and her deputy, where shockingly, eight opposition MPs voted in favour.
In a surprising turn of events following the voting one of the accused MPs, Hon. Soriba Turay, also known as Tamemko, made a bold allegation against the leadership in parliament.
This claim could potentially tarnish the reputation of both the parliamentary leadership and the party as a whole.
Since then, rumours have circulated about a possible investigation into Tamemko’s allegations, with many wondering if the party will take action against him. However, so far, there has been silence from the party, leaving many to speculate on the next steps.
On the other hand, the dynamic Chairman and CEO, Hon. Minkailu Mansaray has established himself as a formidable leader, particularly evident in his passionate and firebrand speeches during the recent peace tour across the country.
Yet, a pressing question remains among his critics: why is he not confronting President Bio with the same passion he has shown towards the rebel APC members?
The intrigue continues to mount as the political landscape continues to shift.
The stakes have never been higher! With just 39 months remaining in President Bio’s final term, the clock is ticking, and in the world of politics, that is an eternity that could lead to significant repercussions for Sierra Leone.
It’s crucial for the main opposition, the APC, to step up and not give President Bio a moment’s reprieve, or a breathing space.
This is a call to action for the APC to rise to the occasion and secure a brighter future for Sierra Leone! The time for decisive leadership is now!
